The original flywheel bolts are torque-to-yield. They are one-time-use bolts, so we decided to use ARP’s bolts (PN 254-2801) for aluminum flywheels. Coyote engines utlize the same flywheel and flywheel bolts as their 4.6- and 5.4-liter cousins. We added antiseize under the heads to prevent excessive wear to the flywheel surface or possible inaccurate torque readings, and removable 242 Loctite on the threads (lower left inset). Torque them in stages with the typical cross pattern and finish them off at 70 lb-ft. The aluminum flywheel has a serviceable carbon-steel disc for the carbon-graphite side of the clutch disc, which is the flush side and is clearly marked for easy identification.
