Don’t wait to buy a transmission jack—believe me, it will pay for itself over and over in your lifetime! It allows you to easily manipulate the transmission in all directions safely, making solo transmission removals/replacements a breeze. All the transmission bolts can be removed with a 13mm ratchet or socket. The top transmission bolts can be accessed under the hood from the passenger-side engine compartment using a swiveling 13mm ratchet. (Don’t forget to replace the wire nut on the top bolt at reinstallation.) Remove the four bolts holding the crossmember (46 lb-ft) and remove the transmission. For easier installation, put a piece of 2-by-4 under the harmonic balancer and jack the front of the engine up a bit, which drops the trans angle downward for easy ingress and egress.
