The oxygen sensor plugs are a bear to reach, so we just left them in. Use a 7⁄8-inch wrench and count the turns when you remove them; you can pre-wind counter-clockwise to reinstall them. Make sure to tape the sensor end to prevent damaging them. They easily stow out of the way in the holes in the frame. Loosen the exhaust band clamp that covers the ball flange with a 13mm ratcheting wrench. Do yourself a favor and separate it (arrow) with a cutoff wheel later. It’s nearly impossible to get to bolts when reinstalling, as they are oriented toward the floorpan. Remove the converters from the exhaust manifolds first. You can reach all of them except the far right bolt, which is accessible from under the hood with a 15mm swivel and a 24-inch extension. Zip-tie the gaskets to the pipes so you don’t forget to reinstall them. Unbolt the sidepipe brackets where they exit the side of the car and leave them attached to the H-pipe. Now you can pull the H-pipe out from the tailpipes.
