Vortech’s base ’11 5.0 Mustang kit, pictured here, was used to pressurize the Boss intake in our tests. Minimal changes were required just around the blower discharge-to-throttle body interface, and Vortech will be offering the Boss-specific kit in any case. Pricing matches the regular ’11 Mustang GT kit at $5,995.95 in black finish or $5,495.95 in satin; real-world mail order prices orbit right at $5,000. Old Vortech hands are likely still getting used to the air-to-air charge cooling on Vortech’s 5.0 kits, but tight engine compartment packaging on the current Mustang precludes Vortech’s familar water-to-air cooling.
