Undercover Boss
|
The overlooked secret weapon in the Boss 302 lineup is the optional Torsen limited-slip differential (standard on the Laguna). The real deal, the expensive all-gear Torsen T2 delivers consistent cat-on-a-carpet rear traction and allowed dialing in a finer chassis balance with minimal understeer. Vehicle Dynamics Engineer Kevin Groot says, “The Torsen helps because it is consistent—day-to-day, all through the day, the next day, next day, next day, three weeks later, a month later, whatever—it still puts the power down the same fashion and that’s a huge thing with us.” A Ford-specific part, the Boss’ Torsen carries Boss-specific gearing inside a 3.73 ring-and-pinion.
