This is likely the biggest obstacle to using the Kenny Brown upper control arms. The instructions clearly warn the user of the following: "If ride height is to be set below 11/42 inch lower than stock, or for competition use, the framerails must be clearanced with the included kit." The kit includes the template seen here, along with the necessary precut steel that has to be welded to the bottom of the rail to box it back together.

The precut steel plate looks like this. We anticipated this issue since the understructure of Fox cars is virtually the same as the later SN-95s, yet Brian felt he gained a bit of extra clearance by virtue of the cradle revisions, of which one component is relocation of the upper control-arm mounts points. Truthfully, we bypassed this procedure as Brian is strongly considering building a purpose-built track car. Rather than perform the cut-and-paste routine twice, he will initially set up the car at the half-inch-lower-than-stock ride height. If the dedicated track car doesn't play out, he'll come back to the necessary frame revisions at a later date.

The bottom line we want to relay is this: serious use or lowering your car requires frame modifications if you want to run the Kenny Brown tubular uppers.

With the IRS securely in place, it was obvious this line-the fuel vapor line that leads up to the charcoal canister-was in the way of the new upper control arms. Brian was able to alleviate the problem by gently bending the line, tucking it up behind the framerail.

Assembling the stock Cobra rotor/caliper combination is a simple operation.
