Coast can also supply new replacement timing covers at $59.99. Thesehave fuel-pump bosses for early Mustangs, so late-model owners will needa block-off plate, which is no big deal. The 347-E Street Fighter comes with a double-roller timing chain withmultiple keyways for dialing in the cam. This is mainly a benefit toCoast on the -E, as it installs the cam and can dial it in.

When buying a 347-E, you are free to install any cylinder heads desired,but clearly a set carrying a CARB Exemption Order is the only logicalthing to do. This is hardly a handicap, as many good street heads haveE.O. numbers. Ah, there's always a technicality. In the Coast project engine it isthat the Windsor Jr. heads are ported. Technically, this negates theCARB E.O. number because the part has been modified, but we doubt itwould show in an emissions test. Once West Coast Cylinder Head wasfinished with the casting, the intake flowed 284 cfm and the exhaust 215cfm, both at 0.600 inch of valve lift. This will easily support the 400hp this combination is expected to make.
