Light and Powerful
If your Mustang needs a little body work, one tool you will need is an Ingersoll Rand www.ingersollrand.com orbital sander. Ingersoll Rand’s orbital sanders are designed to offer maximum power and productivity thanks to more power, lighter weight, and reduced vibration. These attributes will help you finish your Mustang project, while ergonomic rubber grips and anti-slip hand supports help reduce operation fatigue. They are operated by a 0.27 horsepower motor and variable-speed regulator, while a multi-hole slim backing pad lowers the sander’s center of mass to make it more stable. The backing pad’s design also helps the removal of particulate from the work surface, increasing the abrasive pad’s life and productivity.
Plug and Spray
Speaking of nitrous, JMS Chip and Performance [(601) 766-9424;www.jmschip.com has a new plug-and-play nitrous kit for all ’11-’14 Mustangs. JMS markets its kit for street/strip Mustangs, and it even features a progressive nitrous controller that doesn’t require a laptop. The kit includes everything you need, from bottle to nitrous nozzle. Depending on jetting, you can add 50 horsepower, or up to 135 extra ponies. The progressive nitrous controller features rotary switches that allow you to control the flow of nitrous without a computer. One of the nicer touches is a built-in window switch that monitors throttle position and automatically activates the nitrous system at wide-open throttle, when engine rpm is above 2,800 rpm, and deactivates it above 7,000 rpm.
H is for Power

With 11-’13 V-6 Mustangs making way more than those from just a few years ago, today’s models have truly become viable performance options—therefore, people are really trying to make power with them. Of course, one of the first hindrances to power is the factory clutch. Ram Clutches [(803) 788-6034; www.ramclutches.com comes to the rescue. Ram has several options to choose from, in single or dual-disc sets for any horsepower level. Options range from Ram’s HDX clutch set (450 lb-ft rating), to its top-of-the-horsepower-mountain Force 10.5 900-series dual-disc offering capable of transmitting 1,200 lb-ft of torque. Ram also has a choice of either a billet steel or billet aluminum flywheel to go along with this line of clutches.
Shelby Performance Parts [(702) 405-3500; www.shelbyperformanceparts.com says its fuel-pressure-block relocation kit is essential for serious enthusiasts who want to supercharge a 4.6-liter Mustang. With any supercharged engine, the correct fuel pressure is crucial for performance and longevity. Running a supercharged engine too lean leads to expensive damage. Thus, a fuel-pressure gauge is highly recommended. “However, most fuel-pressure gauges have a clearance issue with the supercharger air intake tube,” said Shelby Performance Parts Vice President Jer Gervasi. “Our relocation kit puts the fuel gauge adaptor block over to the side of the intake tube, where there is ample space. The same relocation kit is used for gauge pod installs on the Shelby GT/SC and other packages at Shelby American.”
