While attending the annual Mustangs & Mustangs car show at the Fantasy of Flight (www.fantasyofflight.com) attraction in Central Florida, we came across another tuner Mustang package, the North American P-51 from North American Tuning .

Horse Sense: Long ago a working farm, Knott's Berry Farm is now a western-themed amusement park. A going concern, Knott's features a herd of sky-sweeping roller coasters and other thrills. It's a fun family destination while Dad plays with Fords in the parking lot.

Is yours the baddest street 'Stang in America? Does your Mustang put down in the neighborhood of 750hp to the wheels? Maybe your Mustang makes that number by 5,000 rpm, but does it possess grocery-getter drivability? Can it run 9s on Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag radials? Have you read previous KOTS articles and thought, "Those Mustangs are nothing compared to my 'Stang!" Horse Sense:Located just outside the gates of Silver Dollar Raceway is a day spa. We only noticed it this year,so it must be new.Just think: If your significant other doesn't want to hang out at the track, drop her off for a day at the spa while you go enjoy some drag racing. There's also a strawberry farm across the street. You have to try their strawberry shakes. Yum!

Horse Sense: Shelby's Daytona Coupes secured the Constuctor's Championship with a win at Reims, France, on a rather appropriate date: July 4, 1965. To this day, SAAC holds its conventions near Independence Day. The 2007 confab was from July 6 to 9. Unfortunately, there is no national event this year, but look for it to fire back up in 2009.

Recently while attending the Steeda Anniversary celebration at South Georgia Motorsports Park, I got a chance to check out the latest progress on Steeda's new performance campus in Valdosta, Ga. Things are flying on the new enormous facility, with the skeleton frames for walls going up, and pretty soon it looks like the electricians will be swarming over the building to start wiring the plant for all the Steeda CNC machines and other equipment. Check out the photos below, and stay tuned for further construction updates.

There was a time in America when drag strips were dedicated to not only providing competitive racing programs for locals but a way of drawing high school kids to a proper and safe race location rather than street racing. Over the years, many tracks have successfully created and promoted such programs. Flowmaster Mufflers had decided to engage with that cause by creating their first ever High School Safe Streets Track Program, which launched in 2008.

Horse Sense: One of the booths that had our minds going was that of RacingJunk.com. Whatever you need when it comes to racing, it's on the site--and then some. If you're looking a new race whip, or maybe a wicked street car, it's there. If you already have one, make it that much faster by perusing the classified section for more go-fast goodies. We could spend more time on that site than MySpace. Oh great--RacingJunk.com has a MySpace, too. So much for that.

Barrett-Jackson West Palm Beach was the scene of some extra excitment Saturday, March 29th, when two of the Mustangs used in the new Knight Rider TV movie recently aired on NBC went up for auction to benefit the Salute to Education scholarship charity. The charity which awards financial assistance to high school seniors who demonstrate community service, academic achievement, leadership and strong educational and career goals. Ford Motor Company, participating Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealers, and Ford Motor Credit fund the program which has helped thousands of students realize their dream for a college or university education.

They might just be "playing" in the dirt now, but once the leveling and grading is done, before you know it the new Steeda production plant and test facility will be rising from the South Georgia clay faster than you can burn the tires off your Mustang. After a torrential downpour overnight, day two dawned sunny and cold on day two of the NMRA Nitto Nationals. Gale like breezes wanted to send most of the display and pit tents to OZ, and at the end of the day a scary wreck made us thankful for modern safety equipment. The 2008 NMRA season has kicked off with a bang here in Bradenton, Florida. From John Urist's new Fox-body racecar, to the absence of the Pro 5.0 class, in day one we've already seen that the 2008 season is gonna be as exciting as ever! In October the Late Model Mustang Club of Connecticut (www.lmmc-ct.com) held its 4th Annual car show at Moroso Performance headquarters in Guilford, CT. This Northeastern mustang club has 200 members from NJ to Maine, and hosts events throughout the season for its members with an emphasis on giving back to the community whenever possible.

Horse Sense: One of the things NMRA racers like about the Columbus race is the close proximity of speed shops, including Jegs and Summit Racing. There are several Jegs stores in the Columbus area, and Summit Racing's Tallmadge, Ohio, location isn't that far, either. In the past, we've even loaned our driving "talents" (and our rental car) to pick up parts for Justin Burcham in Michigan.

Horse Sense: If you've heard the SEMA show is big, it's really huge. In 2007, 2,000 exhibitors filled up more than 1 million square feet of exhibit space. That meant a lot of walking for the 5.0&SF crew.

Horse Sense: The battle for power-adder supremacy in our own Real Street class is proving to be one of the hottest head-to-head fights of any other NMRA heads-up category this season. In addition to their boost-versus-jets rivalry, Tim Matherly (supercharged) and Bruce Hemminger (nitrous) are in a seesaw battle for the Real Street points lead and, ultimately, the ring and jacket that an NMRA class title brings.

Horse Sense: The closest championship points race came in Factory Stock, with Tommy Godfrey narrowly edging out Steve Gifford by a scant 15 points. Brian Mitchell carried the biggest landslide, besting Bart Tobener by 500 points in EFI Renegade.

Horse Sense: Many of the car haulers owned by NMRA racers feature what's called "landing gear." Landing gear allows the trailer owner to jack up the front of the trailer so it can be disconnected from the truck. Some racers, Tony Orts for one, have an electric landing gear, but our boy Mike Zamboni's is manual. Since Mike was under the weather when we arrived at Joliet, yours truly had to manually lower the landing gear using the hand-crank mechanism.
