As an SVT Cobra owner, I'm a fan of Mustangs, but in my urban area I understand the value of a fuel-sipping commuter car for those times, like sitting in traffic, when a V-8 and rear-wheel drive aren't fun. Instead of a Focus ST like you, I'm getting a Fiesta ST. I intend to daily drive it, autocross it, and throw on some bolt-ons and a tune.

I drove a stock car at the Ecoboost challenge and it's a blast. If I can get close to 280 fwhp, I'll be right in the same power-to-weight ratio as a new 5.0 Mustang, and I'll have a nice Ecoboost torque curve to go along with it. I admit it's a car more about handling than going fast in a straight line, but I'll be bold enough to say you'll learn more about car control at an autocross than a drag race.

I hope you will cover these cars alongside the Mustang—they really have performance potential far exceeding their stock capabilities. If you learn the ins and outs of Ecoboost on the Focus ST and Fiesta ST, you'll be ready to dive into the 2.3 and nano V-6 Ecoboost engines when they come with the '141⁄2 Mustang. I have a feeling we're going to see an Ecoboost 5.0 or Cobra soon, so you will need to know how to tune them.

I think Mustang owners will be interested in these cars like I am, but in the U.S. we don't have a magazine that really caters to them yet. I hope you can feature them in real tech articles occasionally, maybe six-plus non-Mustang Ecoboost features a year? I would love some real direct-injection fuel-pump tech.

I'm glad you can see the good in the hot little hatches. To many of our readers, the Mustang is the only game in town. I can certainly appreciate that, but it's great to have economy and performance in the useful hatchback bodystyle that the Mustang no longer offers. As you know, I've been modding my ST on our website (www.50mustangandsuperfords.com), and I plan to hit the highlights of those stories in one short piece in the magazine when it's "finished."

That said, it will be tough to find a lot of space for these cars in the magazine. Once the S550 Mustang hits, we're going to have yet another owner group to address with the limited pages available to us. But I am with you on learning the Ecoboost ropes before it comes to the Mustang. I will definitely be ready.
