The engine is based upon an '01 F-150 5.4, now enjoying a 0.020-inch overbore to come in at 335 cubic inches. Paul built the engine himself using a Lightning crankshaft, Manley rods, Manley pistons, and Total Seal piston rings. Up top he used '03 Cobra heads with Comp Cams grinds, and a '99 Cobra intake with a Lightning Force Performance single-blade throttle body. Forgoing the mass-air route, the LX uses a FAST system for an engine management unit, which commands 160-lb/hr injectors fed by an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump.
