An Automotive Engine Specialties-built 347 sits under the cowl hood, and features an Eagle crankshaft and rods, JE pistons, a Comp Cams custom grind camshaft, Edelbrock Victor Jr. heads, and a Trick Flow intake. For even more power at the flick of a switch, NOS solenoids work together with an NX Shark nozzle to provide 125 horsepower's worth of the good stuff. An Astro Performance Warehouse A5 five-speed transmission lives behind the stroker with a QuickTime SFI-approved bellhousing, a SPEC Stage II clutch and flywheel, and a Pro-5.0 shifter. The GT's best time is a 10.26 at 134 mph.

The interior of CJ's GT is familiar Fox, but thanks to Goldstar Automotive it wears new carpet, leather seats, a new headliner, and several billet items. Various Auto Meter gauges keep CJ abreast of mechanical happenings, while he works a Pro-5.0 shifter connected to an Astro Performance Warehouse A-5 transmission.

Yes, that's a '93 Cobra, and we're sure there are plenty of Melvins crying foul in CJ's direction. However, don't hate CJ--the car already boasted a four-link rear suspension at time he purchased it. These days, the car features a Jerry Bickel Race Cars four-link, a Duncan Race Cars 25.5 chassis and rollcage, and a Funny Car hoop. The Cobra wears Bogart skinnies up front with Weld Racing Alumastars out back, all wrapped in Hoosier boots.

1991 Mustang Gt Cobra Engine
CJ's Cobra features a more serious powerplant with a Fast Times Motorworks-built 363ci Windsor outfitted with a top-secret Comp Cams grind, Trick Flow High Port heads, an Edelbrock Super Victor intake, and a Barry Grant Demon 850-cfm carburetor. Fast Times started with a Dart block, adding a Ford Racing Performance Parts crankshaft, Eagle H-beam connecting rods, and JE gas-ported pistons with Childs & Albert Z-Gap piston rings. The combination runs on alcohol, but it also gets a big kick in the pants thanks to a NOS Pro Shot Fogger nitrous system. Behind the healthy Windsor is a DRC Transmissions-built Powerglide with a Coan converter and a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter. CJ's best time with the Cobra is an 8.54 at 158 mph.

Like the powerplant, the Cobra's interior is a little more serious. The ever-present rollcage encompasses the factory black insides, and it was in good shape when CJ bought the Cobra. He did add new carpet, a new center console, and a few other trim parts. Going with the race theme, the Cobra boasts a Kirkey seat, an A.R.T. steering wheel featuring a Mark Williams quick release hub, and a Stroud five-point harness and window net. To protect his investment and himself in the event of the unthinkable, CJ added a Safecraft rise suppression system.
