Whether or not you think you...

Whether or not you think you need nav or not, the standard audio system just doesn't look near as sexy as that 8-inch navigation screen. It is quite functional either way, and the dual-zone climate control is a boon to all friends and spouses getting rides in your 'Stang. As nice as the new, soft dash is it would have been nice if that padding continued to the center console. You can see the abrupt transition here, and thought the sharp corners are gone, the hard plastic remains here.

Though I'd like to see a bit...

Though I'd like to see a bit of dish on them, these 19s are my favorite big wheel option for the car. The KR-style polished 18-incher that's standard on the V6 Pony Package and optional on the GT Premium is a looker as well. If you got all worked up by the low stance of the '10s shown off on the Speed intro show, those had Ford Racing Performance Parts lowering springs. The '10 carries on the grand Mustang tradition of stilted ride heights.

As I remarked in a prior caption,...

As I remarked in a prior caption, these new LED tails are bright and recognizable, and the standard sequentials remove one action item from your mod list.

Much as I thought the '05-'09...

Much as I thought the '05-'09 Pony Package was the best looking S197 outside of the GT500, the nose on the '10 V6 is pretty attractive, and even recalls the prior GT500 nose with its closed-in lower grille.
2010 Shelby GT500
If there's one thing that accelerates my acceptance of a new Mustang body style, it's the variant from the Special Vehicle Team, and the '10 GT500 continues that tradition. It seems to share more with its predecessor than the GT, and for me, that's a big plus. Sure the Shelby offers a number of new styling cues, but the round foglights, aggressive splitter, massive hood vents, and Gurney-flapped rear wing all take the base '10 styling in a positive direction.
Of course, it doesn't hurt that like the GT, the GT500 was benchmarked off my prior favorite variant, the '08-'09 KR, in both handling and power. Driving this one hasn't happened yet, but I'm eagerly anticipating it. If it's as good as PR'd, it should be a dandy, so stay tuned for our drive report. I hope it's sooner than later.

The more pronounced grille...

The more pronounced grille opening and massive hood ducts work with the new headlight design to provide a most aggressive visage. If this comes up in your rear-view mirror, you'll know what car it is.

The stripes and overhanging...

The stripes and overhanging rear wing really help the back of the car. The Gurney flap is removable, so it offers yet another customization option.

I crown the new GT500 wheel...

I crown the new GT500 wheel one of the best Mustang wheels ever bolted on the factory. Put this one up there with the Pony wheels and Cobra Rs. In deference to ride quality, coupes get 19s and convertibles get 18s.

The body color-keyed stripes...

The body color-keyed stripes on the seats are a nice touch that sets the Shelby apart from its GT500 brothers.

Continuing the striped theme...

Continuing the striped theme is at the Le Mans-adorned cue-ball shifter, and one subtle but upmarket change on the GT500 is the use of suede on for the shift boot and e-brake handle boot.
