1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R - Home -Grown Horsepower

The 1,600-cfm carb was done by Dale at CFM carburetors. The rules for Milan's All-Motor class require a cast manifold. Chris cut it into 24 pieces, ported it to match the Blue Thunder cylinder heads, and welded it all back together.

The original 20-gallon fuel cell that came in the Cobra R was replaced with a 3-gallon cell for drag racing. The battery has been relocated to help weight distribution. To keep the car at legal weight for the class, 40 pounds had to be attached to the back of the 'cage.

Late-night runs on a cold track with tiny slicks and more than 1,000 hp combined with the great atmosphere at Milan Dragway makes this the hottest race series in the Midwest. Darren's family and friends enjoy the sweet victory at Milan's Race Wars III.

Rich fabricated the headers featuring three steps: 2-, 21/8-, and 21/4-inch with a 4-inch collector. The mufflers are Flowmaster Outlaws.

If you're looking for the starter on the right side of the engine, it's not there. The Tilton Chevy starter has been relocated to the driver side with a custom-fabbed adapter by Pro Race Craft Engineering.
