Don Burton puts in a tremendous amount of testing, so he makes many more than just the race weekend runs down the track. Not only has he experienced it himself, but he has seen others get the parachute ropes tangled in the wheelie bars while exiting the track after a run. Since switching to the single rear wheel system, he hasn't had any issues, but it's more challenging launching on the single wheel. Don has the horsepower and the chassis; a 4,000-rpm converter from Pat's Performance Converters adds the right touch of power to keep the car hooked all the way across the stripe. He does most of his own work on the Powerglide, so any changes in gearing or repairs can be done at the racetrack. View Related Article
