1992 Ford Mustang GT - Custom Compulsion
Dave says the first upgrades he performed on his GT included a polished stock intake and a cold-air kit. "From roughly 20 minutes of work for the cold-air intake install, I felt more confident in that I could do what needed to be done to the car." Dave installed the Vortech A-Trim supercharger, 30-lb/hr injectors, and 75mm mass air meter himself, but the car didn't run right until SCT reps got their hands on it at a Late Model Mustang Club of Connecticut (www.lmmc-ct.com) dyno day. "I drove the car in feeling like it was missing a couple cylinders; after five minutes on the dyno, it ran like a dream," Dave says. With the stock heads still in place and through the AOD, this car made 295 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. But both numbers are now more than 400, thanks to Edelbrock Performer heads with Ford Racing Performance Parts' 1.6 roller rockers, a Professional Products Typhoon intake, 42-lb/hr injectors, and a Lightning 90mm mass air. And how could we forget the Optima red top battery to get everything started and the Fluidyne radiator to keep it cool. By the time you read this, there will be more to start and keep cool, thanks to the addition of a Vortech S-Trim Supercharger, which is a step up from the A-Trim. This upgrade necessitates a transmission swap to a 4R7OW. Dave says he didn't begin modifying the interior until 2002, and its first mod was a pair of custom Cerullo XR seats. "I'd say the seats were one of the best modifications I've ever done," Dave says. "For a convertible, you can't beat them as far as looks go, and they're comfortable." A lot of what Dave added inside has to do with gauges. The drop-top boasts Auto Meter Phantom and Ultra-Lite gauges, BBK white-face gauges in the cluster, and a Speed of Sound dash gauge pod. Other interior dress-ups include Mach 1 pedals and custom door panels. At one time, Dave's GT featured a simple 12-inch sub sitting in the trunk with an amp hooked to it, but he has cleaned up his audiophile habit with a custom trunk enclosure for the Rockford Fosgate sub and a Kenwood Excelon 600-watt amp. Inside the cockpit resides a Kenwood head unit, Infinity Reference door speakers, and JBL tweeters. | 5.0 Tech Specs | | ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN | Ignition | | Block | Stock, Crane Cams coil, FRPP | | Stock | 9mm spark plug wires, Autolite | | Displacement | spark plugs | | 302ci | Gauges | | Rotating Assembly | Auto Meter Phantom and | | Stock | Ultra-Lite | | Camshaft |   | | Stock | SUSPENSION AND CHASSIS | | Cylinder Heads | Front Suspension | | Edelbrock Performer 6037, | K-member | | 1.90/1.60 valves, FRPP 1.6 roller | Stock | | rockers | Control Arms | | Intake Manifold | Stock | | Professional Products Typhoon | Caster/Camber Plates | | Throttle Body | Maximum Motorsports | | Accufab 70mm | Springs | | Mass Air | MAC progressive-rate | | Lightning 90mm, K&N filter | Struts | | Power Adder | Bilstein heavy-duty | | Vortech A-Trim, 2.95-in pulley, | Brakes | | Anderson Ford Motorsport | SN-95 conversion using Bullitt | | Power Pipe | components | | Fuel System | Wheels | | Walbro 255-lph fuel pump, Kirban | '99 Cobra, 17x8-in, chrome | | fuel pressure regulator, FRPP | Tires | | 42-lb/hr injectors, stock lines and | Yokohama 235/45 | | rails | Rear Suspension | | Exhaust | Springs | | BBK 1 5/8-in ceramic-coated | MAC progressive-rate | | short-tube headers, BBK high- | Shocks | | flow H-pipe, MAC after-cat with | Bilstein heavy-duty | | Flowpath mufflers | Control Arms | | Transmission | Stock | | Stock AOD | Brakes | | Rearend | '95 GT disc | | 8.8, stock differential, '95 Cobra | Wheels | | axles, 3.73 gears | '99 Cobra, 17x8-in, chrome | |   | Tires | | ELECTRONICS | Goodyear Eagle 245/45 | | Engine Management | Chassis Stiffening | | Stock computer, SCT tune-up | Custom full-length subframe | |   | connectors |
