1987 Ford Mustang GT - Factory Hero
|
Through much testing, Michael discovered his Saleen wing was costing him 1 mph, so he removed it for a couple races. But he didn't like the wingless look, so he called up Chapel Auto Wrecking for a Capri bubble hatch. He fitted the hatch to his car, earning the nickname Bubble Boy in the process. And, although he says he still doesn't like the look much, he can fit more contingency stickers on the hatch as compared to a stock Mustang's. The hood is a carbon-fiber unit from Kirkman Composites, a company Michael heard about through fellow Factory Stocker Robin Lawrence. Monocoque wheels combine with genuine Saleen ground effects to make the car a nice package-except for maybe the hatch. (We couldn't resist.) View Related Article
