These vehicles are the stuff enthusiast dreams are made of, and every time we receive a letter sporting the SVT logo, we know we might just be off to the ballpark to witness history.
So when SVT summoned us to San Antonio, Texas, to take its latest Lightning and Cobra on a spin through the hill country, we were anxious to see what it has come up with for 2001. It turns out SVT has developed a three-pronged lineup that embodies the division's current core values of performance, substance, exclusivity, and value. While all feature the limited-edition cachet of exclusivity, each vehicle tends to display one characteristic above the others. The Mustang Cobra exudes performance at the top of the Mustang line, the Lightning is robust with 380hp substance, and the early prototype 2002 SVT Focus will be a tough performance value to beat.
