Damon enlisted the services of Jerry Lawson at Lawson Racing to build a342 using a Ford Racing Performance Parts R302 block, a Scat crank,Eagle rods, Ross pistons, and file-fit moly rings for a stout bottomend. Untouched AFR 205 heads and Crane roller rockers take breathingorders from a Schneider solid-roller camshaft. A box-stock EdelbrockVictor Jr. intake sits atop the long-block with a Barry Grant 825 RaceDemon carburetor to meter air/fuel goings-on. To keep his Wild Streetand True Street competition in the rearview mirror, Damon sets the pacewith an NOS Sportsman Fogger spraying 200hp worth of the fun stuff. For2004, he is swapping to an NOS Pro Race Fogger, and he sent the headsback to AFR for a nitrous port job. He will also be adding a new 9-inchconverter from Lupo Dynamic transmissions, which is supposed to drop histimes another three-tenths. With his best time being a 9.76 at 140 mph, along with the other changes being made, Damon just might be knocking onthe 8-second door when all is said and done. View Related Article
