John Carlson named his '08 Mustang V6 Elvira, and we can see the resemblance. John has loved Mustangs since his high school days, and when Ford introduced the S197 model, he had to have one. It took him a couple years to make one his own, but he bought a base V6 car, knowing he would build the car after his own vision. John's added a dual exhaust, Pypes short-tube headers, a BBK Performance cold-air intake, chrome Bullitt wheels, Pirelli P-Zero treads, and a Bama/SCT 93 octane tune. "The fun will never stop," John says.
Engine swaps are the essence of hot rodding. The Coyote swap is one of the more popular swaps these days, and Pascoag, Rhode Island's George Regan decided to do the deed on his '86 coupe. Not only did George add a Coyote engine, he also threw the Maximum Motorsports catalog at the car, added Cobra brakes, 31-spline axles, 4.10 gears, a Tremec TKO 600 transmission, and a JLT Performance cold-air intake. A pair of Corbeau leather seats provide the comfort while grabbing the Steeda Autosports Tri-Ax shifter. “This is by far the most fun Mustang I've owned,” George says. He notes that he received a lot of help from D&B Performance.
Tera Gay is bringing her son, Dawson, up right. While Mom cruises the streets in her '13 Gotta Have It Green GT, Dawson hits the pavement in his Boss Powerwheel. Mom's car is probably a little faster at this point, but give him a few years and he'll be draggin' Mom down the street. Tera plans to add a full exhaust, cams, a Boss intake, and probably a blower at some point. For Dawson, he's having trouble putting the power down, so his Boss will see a pair of drag radials to help improve that 60-foot time. Unlike the rest of us, Dawson loves cruising with his mom.
