For Monroe Township, New Jersey's Jennifer Awad, this '90 GT represents a bounce back from a bad situation. In August 2010, her former '92 black-on-black GT was wrecked by a careless driver. "The car was home for two weeks after being tuned, and it was destroyed in a nano second," Jennifer says. Since the accident, which left her with a lifelong scar on her neck from disk surgery, she rebounded with her current '90 black-on-black GT. It features a Scat 347 stroker kit, a custom Lunati cam, Pypes Performance Race Pro mufflers, a Cobra intake, and a slew of other goodies. Like every good Jersey Fox, the GT rides out on Weld big 'n' littles. "I'm looking for mid to high 11s at the track before the season is out," Jennifer says, but it doesn't actually matter what it runs at the track. Her kids, Hailey (7) and Nick (5), enjoy cruising around in "Mom's Mustang." They encourage her to go faster on the streets, and "squeal with delight when I do," she adds.
JC Jardim's wife, Regi, drives their '12 Mustang GT during the week, but on the weekends, it's JC's turn. And what a toy it is. The Grabber Blue machine came from the factory with 3.73 gears, a Brembo brake package, 19-inch wheels, and the like. JC added a Borla Cat-Back, a Steeda Autosports cold-air intake, and a Mustang Specialties SCT custom tune. Nowadays the Boca Raton-resident has 410 horsepower to play with, and has run a best of 12.68 at 113 mph at Palm Beach International Raceway. Like the rest of us, JC has steadily moved up the Mustang chain to arrive at owning his latest GT.
We might be losing a little in translation, but Enrique Gomez named his '83 GT "El Palomo." We looked it up, and came up with El Palomo Cojo, which translates to The Lame Pigeon, a '95 Spanish drama. In our world, an '83 GT isn't lame, but Enrique's could use a little TLC. His dad purchased the car some 13 years ago with the intention of fixing it up, but he passed away three years after buying the car. Slowly but surely, Enrique is doing his best to make his dad's dream come true. The GT features a T5 transmission, Centerline Auto Drag wheels, and a sunroof. The car doesn't have a stereo -- Enrique prefers the sound of the engine. Good call, Enrique.
