Think about spending day after day relaxing with a cold beer in hand and no real responsibilities.

Sounds like a dream, right? Well, according to Bill Patterson of Santee, California, it’s only so long before you get bored and need something fun to occupy your time.

“I am a retired Vietnam veteran, and I served my country for 22 years,” he tells us. “I then started a small construction business, where I lasted until I retired and set out to relax the rest of my days at home with my wife—but staying at home got me going crazy.”

His restlessness drove him to attend the Goodguys car show in San Diego, where he met new friend Ernie Sigala. “I met Ernie and his wife standing next to the most beautiful Mustang, and I had to have it,” he remembers.

Luck would have it that the ’09 Mustang GT convertible was for sale, and Bill had already made the decision to take it home with him.

The Mustang is one of Sigala’s limited-edition masterpieces known as Sigala Edition Mustangs. While the ’Stang continues to be powered by the mostly stock 4.6L engine, it has been given extra power thanks to a polished ProCharger P-1SC-1 supercharger, producing 10 pounds of boost, and a three-core intercooler. JBA Racing tuned the GT using an SCT tuner and 39 lb/hr injectors, a GT500 pump, and Mac Performance mufflers.

Eibach shocks, struts, and springs handle suspension duties, while 3.55 gears reside in the rear. The stock manual transmission has been paired with an Advanced Clutch Technology Twin-Disc HD street kit, including clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. A Steeda Tri-Ax shifter in the cockpit allows Bill to shift gears with ease. Bill tells us the Mustang lays down 474 hp and 463 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, but he has never run it at the track. This is all good and well, but the real story is the Mustang’s unique and brilliant looks.

The once-black Mustang now sports a gorgeous House of Kolor Deep Candy Apple Red coat of paint with dual stripes that run the length of the car, even spilling into the interior.

A Blow-By Racing LNR body kit was used to transform the Pony into the beast you see here. Front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and upper and lower grilles are all components of that kit, as are the spoiler, foglights, and ground effects. A Hard Core Muscle hood finishes off the sleek lines of the car.

Keeping the Pony planted firmly on the ground are Pirelli P-Zero tires wrapped around Forgiato two-piece, 22-inch wheels, offering both function and striking good looks.

Inside, a gorgeous leather interior by Katzkin provides a comfortable and luxurious experience for passengers. Red stitching offsets the black seats, and ties in with the theme of the Mustang, while a Classic Design Concepts lightbar finishes out the look.

“I love driving my car, and I use the car to promote Mr. Sigala’s line of cars,” he explains to us. “He sells them across the world and at local dealerships. I am the proud owner of one of about 20 Sigala Editions out there.”

Bill says the car is a serious head-turner everywhere he goes—as if we couldn’t gather that just by looking at it. “Everywhere I drive it, it gets looks, thumbs-up, and lots of attention,” he says. “It makes me feel like a celebrity.”
