Jon Pickering brings a Mustang II into Open Comp packing a 531ci big-block. It would seem difficult to have a consistent 9.20 car, but Jon and the team have it down. They really had it figured out at Columbus. Jon had a tough round in the semi-final against Mr. Open Comp Larry Geddes. However, if the two raced heads-up, Larry would've been wearing the tree after Jon's 0.509 light. Jon ran a 9.22 on his 9.20 dial-in to put Larry on the trailer. In the final, it was all Mustang IIs all the time with Donald Carver's '76 deuce in the other lane. But Jon had another stellar light at the wheel of his '74 II to take the win. View Related Article
