 Factory Stock
Tommy Godfrey... Factory Stock
Tommy Godfrey had a thrash on his hands to make it to Columbus. His Factory Stock ride beat up the valve seats on the JPC Racing dyno just before the race. Tommy didn't have time to send out the heads for a valve job so he merely lapped in the old valves, did a leakdown test, and went with it. The combo was still good for 11.20s, and Tommy was also thankful to solve the car's intermittent shut-off issues. His combo uses E7 heads with a Cobra intake with obviously the best work Rich Groh can come up with, and maintain the car's legality, which was checked Saturday evening in the aforementioned tech line. Tommy, even though he didn't have a strong qualifying effort, had his mojo working on Sunday, getting quicker each round. In the final against Louis Sylvester, Tommy whipped out an 11.19 at 118 mph to take the win, and seal up another Factory Stock championship. Back in the thick of things... Back in the thick of things at Columbus was Louis Sylvester. Louis was solidly in the 11.30s for both rounds 1 and 2, but he slipped to an 11.42 in the semis, but was still able to get past John Leslie Jr. when both racers spun off the hit. However, a way-off pace 11.75 in the final against Tommy Sylvester ended his weekend differently than he wanted. Super 'Stang
What can we... Super 'Stang
What can we say; another Super 'Stang win for Chris Parisi. He has proven to be the most consistent of the group in 2009. He outlasted the 17-car field to take the win over our boy Matt Stanford in the final. Modular Muscle
Reggie Burnette... Modular Muscle
Reggie Burnette Jr. is another NMRA racer who has really stepped up his game in 2009. He's been racing the NMRA for a few years now, and at Columbus he took advantage of that experience, as he has done all year. Reggie consistently cuts awesome lights, and has his car dialed in, both being recipes for success. Open Comp
With 33 cars in... Open Comp
With 33 cars in Open Comp, it was a tough race to get through, but Mike Buczynski was unstoppable during the weekend, taking advantage of luck when it came his way, like in the final when Bryan Parker to give Mike's big-block Mustang the win. Truck and Lightning
It's... Truck and Lightning
It's not an NMRA race if a Motycka doesn't win at least one class. At Columbus, it was Mikey's turn to get the win in Uncle Jesse. The big-block-powered '79 F100 works really well with Mike at the helm. No one looks forward to seeing him in the other lane, and he was able to get past all of them.
