ACT Factory Stock's '08 points... ACT Factory Stock's '08 points champ and Super Bowl winner, Tommy Godfrey, appeared to be in "bracket mode" all weekend, running consistent 11.10 to 11.12 e.t.s throughout eliminations. Tommy credits the track personnel at Route 66 Raceway for his '89 Mustang's winning consistency, saying: "The track guys prepared a racing surface that was absolutely 'killer' all weekend." Jay Dold jockeyed his Modular... Jay Dold jockeyed his Modular Depot entry to the final, but despite pulling a clean holeshot on Tommy Godfrey, Jay couldn't quite seal the deal against the '08 champ's JPC-backed freight train. Modular Muscle
"Competition... Modular Muscle
"Competition in this class is tough, but we had a real good and smooth weekend," says first-time Modular Muscle winner, Scott Mistro. "I cut good lights, and I guess it was just my day today." The win breaks Scott's second-round jinx at the Super Bowl; a monkey that we're sure he's glad to finally have off his back. Open Comp
Open Comp is the... Open Comp
Open Comp is the one-tenth-breakout eliminator where a cool variety of non Mustangs, runs with classic 'Stangs and '79-present Ponies, on a .500 Pro Tree. Paul Lehman claimed his first NMRA class win at the Super Bowl, in his seriously funky, self-built, tube-chassis, big-block-powered '33 Model-A Ford. Truck and Lightning
Rick... Truck and Lightning
Rick DeVito's 1964 Ranchero and its wheels-up launches brought a nice slice of "different" to the Lightning-dominated (the Super Bowl's tally of F-150s-on-steroids was pumped up by the addition of several Lightnings owned and driven by members of the XXXXXXX club, who were at the event for the first time) Truck and Lightning category. Rick cites reaction-time consistency and a truck that performed flawlessly all weekend as the major contributors to his victory. Super Stang
"Even though... Super Stang
"Even though my lights weren't great, I stayed within' two hundredths of my dial all weekend," says Super Stang winner, Kent Nine. "I cut good lights when I had to." The win was Kent's first in NMRA competition (the first time he has ever been past the second round).
