Dan Schoneck: '08 Shelby GT500 BrokeHe might have wanted to pull his T-shirt over his head after the results, but Dan "Cornholio" Shoneck was pretty jacked up about running a big number on his 20-inch Nitto drag radials. To say Dan is jacked up is redundant, as he and John Urist are the only guys we know who live on the limiter. Besides his infectious excitement, Dan is also one of the first guys to introduce us to the efficacy of E85 in boosted applications, so we were excited to see if he could do better than the disappointing 11.86/126 he posted at King of the Street.
To make sure he had more than enough power to get his ride into the 9s, he added a nitrous kit atop his unusual F-1R ProCharged GT500 combo. Alas, he didn't sneak up on the runs before busting the juice. He sprayed and prayed on the first pass, but his prayers weren't answered. Instead, the sticky track and sticky Nittos conspired with the massive torque of a boosted and juiced GT500 to snap off the pinion gear in the car's prepped 9-inch rear. Dan's day ended as it started, but he hit the road again to start pursuing another high-performance quest.
