Jeff Lange: '88 Mustang LX 11.36/122With support from Cincy Speed and Lasota Racing, Jeff Lange is an experienced racer who has competed in the NMRA's Open Comp and Factory Stock ranks. Of course, racers know better than to mess with success on race day, but since our event was more of a test session, Jeff decided to experiment with colder, nonresistor spark plugs. The experiment didn't work out.
He made the change not just for the sake of change, but because he planned to step up to the big 250hp pill in the nitrous kit for the E85 Challenge. Sadly, the popping and missing made him think twice about busting loose the spray, so he stood pat with naturally aspirated runs. "Once I got home, I swapped back to the Autolite 3923s that I've been running," Jeff says. "On the next trip to my local track, it went back to running 10.0s at 136 on a 175 shot."

Kyle Stepp: '93 Mustang LX Convertible 15.63/91.52Another Fox Rod fan and card-carrying member of the Black Mustang Club, Kyle Stepp spends his days working on jets flown by the Iowa Air National Guard. The rest of the time he seems to be driving this '93 LX, which he rescued from a life of decay in a barn. Thanks to a paint makeover from Kyle's pal Darron Evans, the convertible is now far too nice to use as a ladder. Instead, Kyle says he drives the car every day to work and to the track on weekends. This trip to the track proved a little frustrating, as he just couldn't get the car dialed in at our short event and limped into the 15s.
