In late February Editor Turner pulled the cover off Project Vapor Trail and headed over to one of the most unique car shows around, the Shelby-themed Horsepower at the Horse Farm car show, held by Shelby lover Brad Sokoly on his Oviedo, Florida, farm. The show is unique, as it caters to Shelbys and is accessible only to registered guests and participants, so it's an intimate gathering of some of the coolest Shelbys and assorted Mustangs, most of which were limited-editions.
This year's show featured 46 great cars and just over 100 people, there was plenty of room between the cars, and plenty of respect for them as well. We had a great time scoping out the other rides, and airing out PVT in only its second public outing. Our project even took home second place in the Extremely Modified GT500 category. Dave Nelson came all the way from Maryland to take top honors with his Kenne Bell-blown, Griggs Racing-suspended Widowmaker, which gives you an idea how good the cars were at this show.
It's not just the cool cars, as Brad puts on the show from the heart, and creates trophies for all the myriad popular-voted categories himself. The quality of the cars and the camaraderie is top notch, as was the included lunch from The Untouchables Catering, but perhaps the best part of the event is that the proceeds benefit Personal Ponies, a group that uses the ponies to lift the spirits of children with disabilities.
