Does your Mustang put down 750hp to the wheels? Does it possessgrocery-getter drivability? Can it run 9s on Nitto NT555R Extreme Dragradials? Have you read previous King of the Street (KOTS) articles andthought, "Those Mustangs are nothing compared to my 'Stang!" If you readthese questions answering a resounding "yes" to every one, now's yourchance to prove it.

Do you read this thinking your Mustang more than qualifies for KOTS, butit smokes like a freight train when you hammer the loud pedal? Does yourMustang make the power, but the clutch is on the way out? Do you thinkyour Mustang is a tune away from embarrassing every other Mustang on theplanet? You better get that stuff taken care of because if you do getpicked, and your Mustang shows up with any of the previous ailments,points will be docked. If you fail to change the year old spark plugs,and you're down a hundred horsepower because of it, we're not going towait for you to do a tune-up, and we won't care what it makes back homewith new plugs.

What we do want is a spirited, yet fun competition to pick the mostpowerful Mustang, and to see which Mustang can put down the most powerto the chassis dyno rollers and still maintain streetable civility. Thatmeans you get positive grades for an instant cold start, a stable idle,working A/C, and a booming stereo, while we deduct grades for manualsteering, a non-overdrive tranny, a spool, and other race hardware. Weare looking for the most streetable, most powerful Mustang in thecountry.

The first step is putting together an application package. We'd like tosee a few photos of the car, including the engine, as well as a list ofthe car's modifications and accomplishments (dyno sheets, timeslips,etc.). From those stacks of cars, we'll narrow it down to 10 or so luckycontestants to square off on the same day on the same chassis dyno. Thenwe'll see if Associate Editor Mike "The Splitter" Johnson can scare thebejeezus out of you behind the wheel of your Mustang, and hope hedoesn't run over anything in the process.
