NMRA Modular Muscle racer Don Bowles' '05 GT was onprominent display at the Roush booth and was proof ol' Jack isn'tkidding around. On the horsepower front, though, Roush introduced itsnew ROUSHcharger, a Roots-style blower and intake manifold for4.6-Liter, Three-Valve Mustang GTs. When equipped with high-flow fuelinjectors and lower-heat-range spark plugs that are included in theROUSHcharger package, the huffer produces 430 hp at 6,300 rpm and 385lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm on the '05-'06 'Stang's Three-Valve mill.If you can get it hooked, that's certainly enough for a little "grudgenight" fun. Roush is also offering its own line of wheels.
S&B
Shown here is the S&B '05 Mustang show car, which is wearing a ClassicDesign Shaker hoodscoop (similar to the Mach 1's), with S&B's newcold-air kit attached. S&B [(909) 947-0015; www.sbfilters.com] saysthe clear cover section allows quick filter inspection, and a machinedmass air adapter plate gives a more secure mounting for the stock massair element. Stainless steel hardware is used. No pricing was availableat show time, but S&B says its stick-on logos are being changed to aless conspicuous molded-in design.
Saleen
Saleen [(949) 597-4900; www.saleen.com] alsodebuted its new supercharger for the '05-'06 Mustangs. The company'sSeries VI integrated TwinScrew supercharger with two-stage water-to-airintercooling system is a real looker of a blower system. The setupfeatures an integrated intake manifold, a blower housing/assembly, andan intercooler into one compact unit that nestles into the block betweenthe heads, and allows for a much wider intake manifold. A second 'coolerfor this kit is mounted down in the air dam, below the engine radiator, and assists the intercooler that's mounted up top. Saleen says thisdesign is much more maintenance-friendly. It has one sealing surface, and only eight screws need to be removed for access to all of the blowercomponents. At only 5 pounds of boost, the Saleen Series VI intercooledsupercharger reportedly makes 400 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.
Seibon
Carbon fiber is cool, no matter what the application. Seibon [(909)444-5900; www.seibon.com], anewcomer to the Ford aftermarket block, introduced its CF hoods, trunklids, and doors for the new Mustang, and we gotta tell you--they'reabsolutely sick. They are lightweight, clean fitting, and damn-nearexact replicas of the factory steel pieces. Seibon will no doubt be acompany to watch for future Mustang-specific products.
Siemens VDO
While we know about VDO's gauges, but as often as we install larger fuelinjectors, we'll all probably get to know more about Siemens VDO's[(610) 289-0488; www.siemensvdo.com/usa] new line of racing fuel injectors. They are available in 36-, 55-,63-, 72-, and 83-lb/hr flow rates.

And the beat goeson...
Squires Turbo Systems
Intercooled "twins" on an '05 Mustang GT?! When we first heard about theSTS twin-turbo 'Stang (the turbos are mounted in the rear) prior to theSEMA show, we thought it would look insane. Well, it does. It looksinsane, awesome, unreal, and phenomenal. The Utah-based company is ontosomething special with this unique setup, and says that by mounting theturbos in the rear and under the Mustang, it has eliminated the heatproblem that's common to a lot of underhood turbo installations.According to STS [(866) WE-TURBO; www.ststurbo.com], theremote-mounted turbos run cooler with no additional lag and require nomajor modifications to the car.
Stainless Steel Brakes
SSBC [(800) 448-7722; www.ssbrakes.com] showedoff its 13-inch Tri Power brake upgrade for the latest Mustang. Thecalipers feature three 38mm pistons for plenty of clamping force on the1.25-inch-thick rotors. The kit retails for $1,195.

Superchips
The Superchips [(407) 585-7000; www.superchips.com]standard plug-in MAX MicroTuner for the '05-'06 Mustang was at SEMA. Itretails for $465, plugs into the car's data port, gives three Superchipsperformance-engine-management tunes, overrides Ford's rev limits, allowscontrol of the cooling fans, gives diagnostic codes, and improvesdriveability. Superchips says the MAX MicroTuner is good for 15 hp (withpremium fuel, of course). In the photo is the flashpaq from Superchips'newest division, Superchips Racing. With input from software partnerHPTuners, the flashpaq is aimed at sophisticated e-tuners--mainly shopsworking with modified cars. It gives almost unlimited engine-managementcontrol (fuel, spark, knock sensor calibration, shift speeds, mass airtransfer functions, and such), offers graphs, and on and on.Furthermore, Superchips allows you to upload and sell your softwaretunes through its server, and you're paid for each sale.
Superchips Custom Tuning
Last year, SCT [(866) 688-3049; www.sctflash.com] ownedthe world with the XCalibrator flash tuner that could handle late-modelFords; this year it's released the Strategy Flash Device. Thedifference? The XCalibrator is simply a tuning tool that comes blankfrom SCT and requires attention from an SCT dealer. The Strategy FlashDevice is loaded with three tune-ups and offers numerous tuningoptions/controls. Many parameters--such as fuel, spark, gear ratios, andinjectors--can be changed. Datalogging and diagnostic-code housekeepingis onboard as well. All interesting late Ford applications are alreadysupported (including Mustang, Cobra, Lightning, and F-150), with more onthe way. SCT says the new box is worth 17 hp for the '05 Mustang GT, 11hp for '99-'01 Cobras, and 15 hp for '99-'04 Mustang GT.

Venerable ignition specialist Taylor [(816) 765-5011; www.taylorcabletv.com] had a totally new twist at SEMA--a programmable, drop-in,multi-spark, "distributorless" ignition system for engines withdistributors. It uses a billet unit that looks like a distributor andfits in the same place, but outputs to a coil pack. Various programmabletiming curves and rev limits, rpm-activated switches, and so on areprovided; all small-block Ford applications are covered. Taylor also hada 16-volt, 150-amp racing alternator for you guys with the big fuelpumps.
TCI
TCI [(662) 224-8972; www.tciauto.com] washappy about its '05 Mustang torque converter. Apparently Ford left thema lot of room to tighten tolerances and, of course, build a moreperformance-oriented torque converter. The company was adamant itsconverter was worth 0.4 second in the quarter, and thought some folksmight see as much as a 0.6-second improvement. The converter features ahigher stall stator (approximately 3,000-rpm stall), modified impellerblades, needle bearings, and furnace brazing (natch). No pricing was setat show time. For C4 and C6 fans, TCI was showing Ultimate Streetfightertorque converters built to handle up to 1,200 hp, plus Max-Coolcast-aluminum pans for 5R110, E40D, 4R100, and the legions of AOD,AOD-E, 4R70W boxes. Better shift kits (C4/C6, AOD-E/4R70W), dipsticktubes, and Lightning Stick shifters for traditional Ford trans (C4/C6),diesel torque converters, and pans, and even a new elastomer harmonicdamper were also announced.
Tokico
To showcase its relatively new D-Spec wide-range adjustable dampers,Tokico [(310) 898-3080; www.tokicogasshocks.com] built an '05 Mustang augmented with, among other items, aVortech blower, Baer brakes, Cobra seats, JBA long-tube headers, aClassic Design Concepts front splitter, 5Zigen 19x9- and 19x10-inchwheels, BFG 275/35 and 295/35 tires, PIAA lights, a Techno Squarerollcage, and Auto Explosion custom paint. It's a sharp looker anddefinitely designed to run, so chances are high we'll log some seat timebefore too long.

W.E.T. Special Products
Ever wished your seats were air conditioned in the summer? Nothing'sworse than jumping into a car with blistering hot seats. The ComfortCools cover from W.E.T. Special Products [(866) 838-6936; www.wet.de/englisch/index_e.htm] is an easy, add-on solution that will keepyour rear end cool on the long drive to the race or show.
WD-40
This is probably the simplest entry in our lineup of SEMA products, butpound for pound it's one of the neatest things we saw at the show. Weall use or have used WD-40 [(619) 296-0605; www.wd40.com], and we alluse or have used the little red "straw" that's taped to every can toshoot the lubricant into tight areas with pinpoint accuracy. Not only isthe red straw a challenge to install in the nozzle, but for some reasonit never stays in the nozzle. Well, the folks at WD-40 finally devised amethod of keeping the straw with the can, at the ready whenever it'sneeded. Say hello to "Smart Straw." It sprays or streams wherever youpoint it, and never leaves the side of the can when you're done.
Willpak Industries
Willpak [(905) 827-0224; www.willpak.com] takesthe throwback '05 Mustang even closer to its old-school roots with thisrear-window-louver assembly. The standard louvers are made from texturedABS material, but a set of smooth slats can be ordered if that's moreyour liking. We recommend combining the louvers with Willpak'sside-window louvers (small or large sizes are available) or side-windowscoops, the hoodscoop, side quarter-scoops, and front valence for anall-around, fully classic look for your '05 'Stang.
Wiseco
Adding to its line of Ford forgings, Wiseco [(800) 321-1364; www.wiseco.com] hasreleased 302 flat-top and dished (reverse dome) pistons. These aresomewhat lower-cost units, but still come with Hastings plasma rings,chrome-moly pistons, and Spirolox pin retainers. Wiseco also reportsthat Roush is using its pistons in Roush crate engines. That's anatural, as Wiseco has a long history in NASCAR racing, making thecompany familiar to Roush and his customers.
