In the past, the NMRA's stop at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, was mostly known for rainy weather, race delays, and even cancellations. Leading up to the '05 NMRA Motorsport Nationals, the forecast was vague at best, but it still called for scattered showers and the like. Had the rain made an extensive appearance, the NMRA was going to have to scramble because the race before Maple Grove at Martin, Michigan, was cancelled before eliminations could be completed. The Martin race was scheduled to be finished at Maple Grove, so any bad weather would have really thrown a wrench in the NMRA's plans. Thankfully, though, the bad weather stayed away, and instead the heat stole the show.
