FRPP's New 'Performance Packs' For 2005-06 Mustang GT

Ford Racing Performance Parts announces three performance packs forupgrading 2005-2006 Mustang GT coupes and convertibles.

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 25 - Turn your Mustang into the king of the roadusing Ford Racing Performance Part's new line of Mustang 'PerformancePacks' being introduced at the 2005 SEMA Show (Specialty Equipment MarketAssociation ) on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Mustang was the talk the show lastyear, and that will only continue with these new speed parts developedby Ford Racing.

"Mustang is the king when it comes to driving performance partsbusiness," says Jamie Allison, manager, Ford Racing Performance Parts(FRPP). "The FRPP 'Performance Packs' for Mustang are grounded inchampionship-winning engineering and race-proven experience. Thesepacks are the perfect platform for enthusiasts to customize,personalize, and enhance their Mustangs for the street or track".

Introduced at the 2004 SEMA Show, Ford Racing's Mustang FR500C racerrecently earned the Grand-Am Cup Manufacturer's Championship (GS class)in a year-long battle against the best from around the world. The FR500Cprogram was the spark that ignited the Mustang performance partsdevelopment program.

The FR1 package

Mustang enthusiasts will be able to choose among three performance partspackages that provide specific levels of enhancement to their 2005 or2006 Mustang GT depending on their performance desire. "FR1" or the'Power Pack' provides for more muscle car manners with a throatierexhaust note and an increase in horsepower due to new mass air meter andFord Racing premium fuel calibration for the 4.6L 3V V-8 engine. Theequipment making up "FR1" is "bolt-on" and can be managed by anexperienced "do-it-yourselfer" in his or her garage.

The FR2 package

For those enthusiasts that want more seat of the pants feel, and mayvisit their local drag strip on weekends, the "FR2" package or 'DragPack' is perfect. The "FR2" package of equipment includes a new finaldrive gear ratio (4.10:1), exhaust headers, short-throw shifter, andsame mass air meter and premium fuel calibration as "FR1."

To enhance either "FR1" or "FR2" is the 'Handling Pack' or "FR3."Developed by the same race engineers that tuned the FR500C race car,"FR3" features a unique suspension set-up including dampers, springs,anti-roll bars, and a strut tower brace. This handling package will notonly enhance the cornering ability of the Mustang on road or track, itwill add to its classic good looks by giving the car an aggressivelowered stance.

The FR3 package

"Last year Mustang was bestowed SEMA's 'Most Accessory-Friendly Vehicle'award and it was well-deserved," continues Allison. "Mustang is core tothe Ford Racing Performance Parts business, and is core to the entireaftermarket. Our data shows it makes up ten percent of all vehicles thatget modified with performance parts by their owners."
