Mustang enthusiasts will be able to choose among three performance partspackages that provide specific levels of enhancement to their 2005 or2006 Mustang GT depending on their performance desire. "FR1" or the'Power Pack' provides for more muscle car manners with a throatierexhaust note and an increase in horsepower due to new mass air meter andFord Racing premium fuel calibration for the 4.6L 3V V-8 engine. Theequipment making up "FR1" is "bolt-on" and can be managed by anexperienced "do-it-yourselfer" in his or her garage.
For those enthusiasts that want more seat of the pants feel, and mayvisit their local drag strip on weekends, the "FR2" package or 'DragPack' is perfect. The "FR2" package of equipment includes a new finaldrive gear ratio (4.10:1), exhaust headers, short-throw shifter, andsame mass air meter and premium fuel calibration as "FR1."
To enhance either "FR1" or "FR2" is the 'Handling Pack' or "FR3."Developed by the same race engineers that tuned the FR500C race car,"FR3" features a unique suspension set-up including dampers, springs,anti-roll bars, and a strut tower brace. This handling package will notonly enhance the cornering ability of the Mustang on road or track, itwill add to its classic good looks by giving the car an aggressivelowered stance.
