Kentucky Sam Vincent has been to a Duck race before, but he didn’t fare too well. He hoped to do better this time around. Sam was more known for a three-wheels-off launch he was able to save during Thursday’s testing. This is a common theme at Duck’s races. Racers put it on the line to run their stuff to the fullest. In eighth-mile you don’t have time to make up—it’s go time right off the line. You don’t have a full quarter-mile to make up for a marginal start. You have to come out spraying both kits, as it were. Anything less, and you’re going home early. In Sam’s case, it’s hard to spray both kits on radials, and after Thursday’s pogo-stick run, he was out in left field as to a tune-up, which cost him in Round 1 when he was unable to put up a fight against Dean Marinis.
