Ryan Hecox took his NMRA Pure Street Cobra and turned it into a radial car. Though we’ve seen it run deep into the 7s in the quarter-mile, Ryan had the car configured for eighth-mile racing for Lights Out 4. Instead of an NA Pure Street combo, Ryan’s Cobra now has a 411ci, 9.5-inch-deck Dart block with a 3.75-inch crank, Yates heads, and a large-frame Precision turbo. With the compressed schedule, Ryan wasn’t able to make too many test hits, and like everyone, was flying blind come Sunday’s eliminations. Yes, a wheelie such as Ryan’s is unbelievably cool, but it’s not good for e.t. and meant an early exit for Ryan this time.
